It has been 25 years since the Institute of the Czech National Corpus was born on September 9th, 1994 at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. It owes its existence to the persistent efforts of several enthusiasts, led by Prof. František Čermák, who collectively envisioned a national language corpus for Czech. Starting from humble beginnings, we have grown significantly in terms of both human and data resources: the CNC now ranks among the leading projects of its kind in the world, offering not only language material, but also user interfaces and related services.
